Dr. Robert Armstrong graduated from Duke University in 1989 with a history degree. He earned his medical degree at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, completing a residency in Neurology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. He served as chief resident in the Neurology Department at the University of Virginia. He also completed a fellowship in Epilepsy and Electroencephalography at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, VA.
Dr. Armstrong is a partner at Asheville Neurology Specialists, which he co-founded with Dr. Patton in 2004. He speaks frequently about epilepsy. He and his wife enjoy their two children; they also stay busy with running , horseback riding, hiking, backpacking, and working with the Boy Scouts.
