Infusion therapy medication is delivered intravenously, meaning through the veins and into the bloodstream. We currently infuse Tysabri and Ocrevus, which are prescription medicines approved for adult patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) as well as Solu-Medrol. The purpose of these medications is to help to slow the worsening of the disease and decrease the number of flare-ups (relapses).

At our infusion center, we have three chairs and one dedicated infusion nurse.

Our Infusion Center is equipped with a TV, blankets and snacks to make your visit more comfortable.

Clinical trials provide access to the latest advances in research by bringing new treatment options to the market. They are led by trusted physicians who recognize the importance of conducting clinical research for their patients and their community and of doing their small part to advance heath care around the world. Not only will you gain access to the latest treatments, but you’ll also be contributing to the future of medicine.

Common Questions

What is a clinical trial?

Clinical trials are the first step in bringing new treatment options to people around the world. Individuals like you, who participate in clinical trials, make it possible to advance medicine. Effective and safe new treatments and cures can only become realities if people take the initiative to participate in a clinical research study. When a trial is complete, researchers better understand how a medication benefits a specific medical condition.

Why consider participating?

By participating in a research study, not only are you helping researchers understand how a new medication works, but you are bringing new treatment options to people around the world to improve their health and well-being. You also have the potential to receive innovative treatment under the supervision of your trusted physician at no cost.

Why choose us?

At Asheville Neurology, our Board Certified Neurologists Dr. Armstrong, Dr. Patton and Dr. Engelbrecht work with our Physician Assistants to provide quality care to our patients and their loved ones.

Becoming Our Patient

In order to begin the process of becoming our patient, your doctor must send us a referral. Once we receive a referral, it is reviewed by our clinical staff and physicians to ensure that the referral falls within the scope of our practice and that we have all needed medical records.  Once a referral is approved,  our scheduling department will reach out to you to schedule your first appointment.

Your First Appointment

Prior to your first appointment, we ask that you pre-register via Phreesia to ensure that we get all of the needed clinical and demographic information in the system before our doctors start the visit. Instead of wasting valuable appointment time going over clinical history/or getting updated insurance information, we like to have everything ready to go so that your appointment time is truly dedicated to why you need to see us.

If this manner of care sounds appealing to you, we encourage you to choose Asheville Neurology Specialists for your compassionate and innovative neurological care.

Meet Our Team

A few words from our patients…

Dr. Patton is so very much better than the other doctor that I was seeing. He is so kind and caring, he listens with not only his but with his heart as well.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and kindness shown to me at a recent appt. Dr. Engelbrecht spent a lot of time with me for his assessment and made me feel at ease. I couldn’t believe it when I received a voicemail from him letting me know the results of a test just hours afterwards. The staff was also great! Overall A+

Dr. Patton is a wonderful doctor. I have been to multiple physicians over the years, including ones at Duke and UNC, and he is the best. I am so lucky to have found such a kind and compassionate physician. I love his staff and his office. He is easy to talk to and he will listen to you. He has worked with my condition over the years and was able to find a medication that works for my particular neurological condition. He has been a godsend.

One of the best Doctors I have ever had the privilege of seeing. Takes his time listened to my concerns asked questions and made me feel like he really cared about my well being. He took time to explain things to me no other Neurologist ever had and when I left his office I felt good about where we were going and about the plan he had set up for my treatment. Would strongly recommend his and his staff to anyone seeking a competent and compassionate physician.
